Marlene E. Oakes

The death of Marlene Evelyn Oakes occurred suddenly on Thursday, January 7, 2016 at Hotel Dieu Hospital, Perth Andover. Born April 19, 1934 in Tracey Mills she was the daughter of the late Harold and Nadine (Hartley) Shaw. She was also predeceased by her husband, Lionel Oakes; 2 brothers, Ivan and Reginald Shaw.

Marlene is survived by her 5 children, Gayle Tompkins (Johnny), Stephen Oakes (Wanda), Carol Rankin (David Miller), Janet Stephenson and Alan Oakes (Pam); 9 grandchildren, Justin Stephenson, Tyler Oakes, Levi Tompkins, Sarah Atherton, Lindsay McFarlane, Laura O’Neill, Luke Rankin, Sam Oakes and Seth Oakes; 3 great grandchildren, Fletcher McLaughlin, McCoy Atherton and Max O’Neill; 1 brother, Michael Shaw (Charlene) as well as nieces, nephews and extended family.

Visitation will be held from the Beechwood Baptist Church on Sunday, January 10, 2016 from 2-3 pm with a funeral service following at 3:00 pm. Rev. John Tremblett will officiate.
