Thomas L. Newell
Thomas Lionel Newell Oct 25, 1921 - March 31, 2016. Born October 25, 1921 in Toronto, Ontario, was the son of the late Thomas and Olga (Sweetman) Newell. He was the last surviving brother of George and John.

Thomas is survived by his spouse, Joan Tompkins, his 5 children, Margaret Newell, Tom C. Newell (Susan), Marta Jones-Tromm (Michael Tromm), Michelle Newell (Pierre Maillette) and Megan Newell (Philip Robb); grandchildren, Hugh, Ben, Darby, Ryan, Kyle, Emilie, Kailey and Brenden along with 4 great grandchildren, Odin, Sasha, Talus and Harper.

Tom was a WWII veteran, Civil Engineer, Insurance Broker and Risk Manager retired from Morris and McKenzie. Tom was a pioneer with in the communities he lived being integral to the building the first outdoor public pool (Sunnyside Pool; Point Claire). The building of the Point Claire Olympic Pool; board member of the first birth control clinic in Canada; founding President of Chateauguay 55 + Club; 1995 Eugene Forsey award winner for distinguished service to English speaking Quebecer's; Past President of the Lions Club along with many more contributions.

In his later life he moved to and thoroughly enjoyed living in Florenceville, New Brunswick. Tom was a charismatic fun loving man who will be sorely missed by his family and friends.

A Celebration of Tom's Life will be held on Monday April 4, 2016 at 2:00 pm at the Church of the Good Shepherd Fellowship Hall.
In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to Camp Brookwood or to the Church of the Good Shepherd, Florenceville New Brunswick.
