William D. Dugan

1942-2016

William D. Dugan
It is with sadness that family shares the sudden death of William Daniel Dugan of Moose Mountain at his home on May 7, 2016. Born January 23, 1942 in Bath, Willie was the son of the late Richard and Elizabeth (nee Higgins) Dugan. He was predeceased by his sisters Jean Marie, Geraldine, and brothers Leroy, Gerard and Charles.

Willie is survived by his son Richard D. (Holly O'Neill) of Gordonsville and his children Wesley and Brianna; daughter Karen Brooks (Darrell) of Florenceville and their daughter Jerika; one brother Philip, sisters-in-law Monica and Francena as well as an abundance of nieces and nephews and extended family. Special mention goes to step-daughter Stacey Stephenson of and her children, Nicholas and Reese.

William, Bill, or Willie to most, loved living in Moose Mountain and it seems fitting he took his last breath there. After leaving the mountain as a teenager for a career in the Canadian Armed Forces, he returned to the mountain to live out his last 25 years. Willie saw a lot of countryside in his military role which included postings at CFB Gagetown and CFB Shilo, as well as 2 peacekeeping missions with the UN in the Golan Heights, and in his second career as a truck driver for Donnelly Farms of Lansdowne, but his heart truly belonged in Moose Mountain.
Willie will be fondly remembered most by family and friends for his steadfast love and support of his Toronto Maple Leafs, for Chevy trucks and for his laugh. As a devoted fan of the Leafs, he may have complained about their less than stellar records, but never once wavered in support of his beloved team. Willie was also a Chevy guy to the core. Vehicle after vehicle had to be part of the Chevrolet family of cars and trucks to be parked in his dooryard. He will also be lovingly remembered for his laugh - a laugh that could light up a room. It was a marvel that such a big sound could emanate from a man standing only 5'4".
