Alice Elizabeth " Betty" Boyd

1935-2019

Alice Elizabeth " Betty" Boyd
It is with a heavy heart that the family of Alice Elizabeth (Betty) Boyd announces her passing on November 10, 2019 at the River View Manor, Bath. Born May 21, 1935 in Saint John, NB, she was the daughter of the late Gordon and Phyllis Ring. She was also predeceased by her loving husband Walter (Sam) in 2012.

Betty moved to Johnville in 1957 at the age of 22 to build a life with her husband Sam. As farm wife and mother to 8 children, she immersed herself in the Johnville community and provided a welcome home to all her extended family and friends. Betty was active in the church community and a CWL member for 50 years. She excelled at her role as a caregiver and defined the role of a grandmother. With her special love and keen interest in everyone’s life events, she became the neighbourhood Grammie Betty. Betty’s door was always open for a meal, cup of tea or a game of cards. She remained the centre of our family, keeping us up to date on the latest happenings, new babies, wedding plans and more.

Betty is survived by her 8 children, Sean (Mary), Cathy Boyd-Brennan (Matt), Jean Nisbet (John), Marty (Joyce), Peter, Denise Kilfoil (Stephen), Doug (Sandy) and Kelly McCullough (Dave); siblings Lorraine Brown and Doug Ring (Carol); as well as many extended family and close friends.

She enjoyed with pride the love of her 22 grandchildren and kept an active interest in their lives: Ryan (Carolyn), Bethany, Tara, Connor, Colin (Susan), Alex (Steve), Haley, Luke (Magen), Michael, Emily, David, Jordan, Janelle, Sarah (Kevin), Caroline (Sean), Rachel, Nathan (Allix), Jeremy (Destiny), Chase, Delaney, Nicholas and Jackson. In recent years, she especially loved her visits with her great-grandchildren, Emmett, Tessa, Chloe, Emma, Quinn and Haydn.

Making the most of every situation and with determination she moved to the River View Manor in 2017. There she continued to play cards, celebrate special events and develop new friendships with residents and staff. The family wishes to thank them for making her last couple of years enjoyable.
