Cora Isabell Thomas

1928-2022

Cora Isabell Thomas
It is with profound sadness we announce the passing of our dear mother Cora Isabell (Reid) Thomas of Centreville, NB on Tuesday, January 18, 2022 at the Carleton Manor in Woodstock, NB.

Mom was born in Upper Knoxford, NB on September 3, 1928 to the late Addison and Roxie (Burtt) Reid.

Mom attended school in a one room school house in Knoxford, NB and then went to work at the Tea Room in Bristol, NB, where, as she often said, she made many lobster rolls. After meeting and marrying Dad she became a "farmers wife". Mom worked hard on the farm in Lower Knoxford, NB. She would carry the cream separator from the barn to the house every day, wash it, and then carry it back to the barn. Many times she often got the cows in, milked them, and put them back out to pasture.

In the summer Mom would help unload hay and straw and in the fall she would work on the potatoe harvester, or help in the potatoe house. Even in her eighties she would often say she would love to be out on the harvester.

Mom was a member of the Knoxford Women's Institute for over 60 years. She enjoyed quilting and watching sports; especially basketball. She also liked animals; especially birds and cats.

Mom was predeceased by her parents Addison and Roxie (Burtt) Reid, her husband of 71 years, Arnold R. Thomas on November 13, 2021, sisters, Hazel and Freda, brothers, Perley and Budd.

Mom is survived by 3 children, Brenda, Reid (Suzanne) and Joanne (Michael); 2 grandchildren, Cal (Alana) and Evan (Mariah); 3 great grandchildren, Kai, Kari and Finn, as well as extended family and friends.

We would like to thank all the staff of Carleton Manor; especially the doctors, RN's, LPN's, RA's for your care , compassion and support. It is greatly appreciated.

A private graveside service will take place in the spring at the Centreville Baptist Cemetery.

If so desired, donations can be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation, River Valley Cancer Support Group, Centreville
Baptist Cemetery or donor's choice.

Thank you to L.R. Giberson Funeral Directors for their compassion, help and guidance.
