Burton E. Donovan

1947-2022

Burton E. Donovan
On Wednesday, August 10, 2022 at the Upper River Valley Hospital in Waterville,NB, Burton Eugene Donovan of Wicklow (and formerly of Simonds) went home to be with the Lord. Born January 12, 1947 in Bath, NB, he was the son of the late Rev. Andrew and Leola (Toms) Donovan. He was also predeceased by 1 sister in law, Loretta Donovan; 2 brothers in law, Bernard McManus and Alan Peterson.

Burton is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Judy; 4 daughters, Kristina Wood (Phillip), Karen Manning (Rubin), Cheryl Gratto (John) and Cindy Giberson (Lance); 16 grandchildren, Emily, Brian, Erica, Jessica (John Scott), Allison (Anthony Boutilier), Vanessa (Colin Legere), Amelia, Anthony, Xander, Andrew, Aleah, Adrianna, Dane, Emma, Sarah and Isaac; 3 great grandchildren, Luci, Valencia and Anderson; 4 siblings, Connie McManus, Marshall Donovan, Bonnie Wasson (Keith) and Howard Donovan (Elizabeth); sister in law, Sharon Battiston (Louie) as well as many nieces, nephews and extended family.

For most of his working life, Burton was a professional driver, which provided many adventures including hauling gas tankers, and loading heavy equipment to the far North, even trucking on ice roads in the North West Territories. He was cautious, dependable, and honest, earning recognition for safe driving (1 & 2 million mile plaques) and mentoring younger drivers. These traits made him an example of faithfulness throughout his life. Dad rarely passed up a coffee run, always looked forward to visiting with his girls and grandchildren, and was a valuable helping hand.

Burton was always part of a musical family where his voice resonated with a collection of his favorite songs, and he would accompany the music on bass and acoustic guitar. As a quiet outdoorsman, his company will be missed for hunting and fishing with his grandchildren. Burton was appreciated for the many times he was asked to lead in prayer and has left a legacy of faith in the hearts of his children and grandchildren. The many life lessons he's communicated with sincerity and conviction will not be forgotten.
