It is with heavy hearts that we announce the death of John Edward Cogswell of East Centreville, NB that occurred at the Upper River Valley Hospital in Waterville on Tuesday, November 29th after a brief stay in palliative care at the age of 85.
John was the son of the late Walter and Florence (White) Cogswell of East Centreville. Born September 20, 1937, John attended school in Centreville and then went to study at the Maritime College of Forest Technology in Fredericton. After his graduation, he took a job in St. Croix with Georgia Pacific, later moving to East Centreville to work at HJ Crabbe & Sons for 26 years until his retirement.
In addition to his day job, John ran a hobby farm with beef cattle and sheep. His spare time was filled with farm chores. He could "fix" anything with some baler twine! In later life, when unable to farm, his hobbies we're reading, colouring, listing to CBC radio, letting the cat Marmalade in and out multiple times each day and watching "Jeopardy" and "Wheel of Fortune". He was an avid Burger King supporter the last few years eating a bacon cheeseburger each day.

John was predeceased by his parents, his brother, Fred and his wife Pat, his sister Mary and her husband Charlie and their son and his wife Malcolm and Sandra Cammack, his niece's husband James Forsythe and his niece Carmen Robinson.

He is survived by his wife of 50 years Rhoda (nee Drew) and their daughters, Sarah of Florenceville-Bristol, Sally (Don Harborne) of Grand Manan and Linda (Kevin Armishaw) of Winnipeg, one granddaughter, Ava as well as his niece Kathleen Forsythe of Ladysmith, BC and great nephew David Forsythe (Laura) and daughter Harris of Winnipeg as well as sisters in law, brothers in law, nieces, nephews by marriage and many cousins.

By John's request, there will be no visitation or funeral service. A private family interment will be held. Memorial donations can be made in John's memory to the Extra Mural Program or a charity of the donor's choice.

The family would like to thank the Extra Mural nurses from Perth who visited the house as well as the doctors and nurses at the Upper River Valley Hospital for their assistance during his stay in palliative care.
