Margaret D. Tompkins
Tompkins, Margaret Daisy … 101, Bath

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of our beloved Mother, Margaret Daisy (Wright) Tompkins on October 12, 2014.
A sharp, witty, personality, avid gardener, lover of animals and music, faithful church member, and devoted mother, Margaret passed peacefully in her home with her family by her side. Born in Muniac, Margaret was a daughter of the late John and Alice (Broad) Wright. She was married at an early age to Frank R. Tompkins, a prominent lumberman owning several sawmills wherein she helped with the crew while raising six children. Her life was rich and dynamic, entirely devoted to family, home, and community. She was a past member of the Bath Hospital Auxiliary, Bath Women’s Institute, Bath United Baptist Church, and the Missionary Society. She became known as the “Candy Lady” when she decorated her car with live flowers for the annual Labour Day parade and threw candy to the waiting children. She clerked at Gallagher’s General Store and Roy Hawkes until the age of 80.
Besides her parents, Margaret was predeceased by her husband Frank Tompkins; sisters Irene, Ruth, Cassie, Nina; brothers William, Willard, and Fred; sons Franklin, William and his wife Marjorie; grandson Michael Tompkins.
She is survived by daughters Dianne, Ruth (Linwood) Giberson, Marilyn (Darrell) Chandler; son Wayne (Mary) Tompkins; daughter-in-law Edith Tompkins; sister-in-law Mary Wright; 21 grand children, 29 great grand children and 5 great great grandchildren.
