Cecelia G. Boyd
It is with deep sorrow and much love that the family of Cecelia Gertrude Boyd announce her passing on Saturday, August 12th, 2023, at the Doctor Everett Chalmers Hospital. Born on June 23, 1936 in Bath, New Brunswick, Cecelia was the daughter of Dorothy (Collins) and Francis Doherty.

Her life began on a farm in Holmesville, NB. Surrounded by eight siblings she was raised knowing that faith and family always came first. From a very young age she knew she wanted to be a nurse. She graduated in 1957 from St. Joseph's School of Nursing in Saint John, NB. Cecelia returned to Bath to begin her nursing career at the Annie I. Lockhart Hospital followed by the Northern Carleton Hospital. The next year she married Arnold and settled in Johnville. Life consisted of raising five children while juggling hospital shift work and farm life. There was nothing she loved more than a house full of family and hosting gatherings. Grandchildren and eventually great grandchildren were a great source of entertainment and often the topic of conversation. They have fond memories of spending summers together on the farm, homemade bread, cookie parties, dress up and posing for photos to name a few. At the age of eighty two she travelled to Ireland to connect with her Irish roots. It was her trip of a lifetime. She is now with those who have been waiting patiently for her.

Besides her parents she was predeceased by her husband Arnold, daughter Pauline McIntyre, son Stephen, one brother Charles Doherty, and two sisters Patricia McSheffery and Mary Brown. She will forever be remembered by her sons Robert, Calgary, AB; Michael (Jackie), Johnville, NB; daughter Jackie (Paul) Brennan, Harvey, NB; son in law Rob McIntyre, North Bay, ON; grandchildren Lucas (Shei-Yon) Boyd, Vancouver; Jared Boyd, Calgary; Leslie Boyd, Moncton; Ellen Boyd, Florenceville; Ben (Emily) Brennan, Rusagonis; Alice (Ricky) Jones, Enfield; Mollie Brennan (Jamie McCallum), Saint John; Emily McIntyre, London, ON; Ethan McIntyre (Joe), London, ON; great grandchildren Evoleht and Blane Brennan, and Colton Jones.

She is also survived by sisters Connie Dumouchel (Andre), Sheila Hamilton (Harold), Dianne Gray (Robert), brothers Bud Doherty (Joyce), Brian Doherty, sisters in law Ellen Doherty, Denise Vanderkley (Karel), Pauline Lavery (Alex) as well as many nieces and nephews, extended family and friends.

Her family would like to thank her many friends and neighbours for taking the time to visit with her. Your gifts of homemade cooking and baking did not go unnoticed. Heartfelt thanks to Dr. Colin Lockhart for his kindness and compassion, the wonderful help provided by Extra Mural, Linda Davenport, PSW, for always being there for her, the staff at Shannex in Fredericton for their kindness, and the doctors and nursing staff at Upper River Valley Hospital who took such great care of her during her stays. To the doctors and nursing staff in the ER and 4 North West at Doctor Everett Chalmers Hospital, thank you for the extraordinary care you provided her during her last weeks of life.

Visitation will be held from St. John the Evangelist Church, Johnville, NB on Tuesday, August 15, 2023 from 6-8 pm. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, August 16, 2023 at 11 am from St. John the Evangelist Church. Fr. Anthony Epke as celebrant.
