Ralph D. Ritchie

1952-2024

Ralph D. Ritchie
With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of our beloved father, Ralph Dean Ritchie, who peacefully departed after his courageous battle with cancer on April 24, 2024. He spent his final days looking into the eyes of those who loved him the most. Ralph was born on November 5, 1952, in Bath, NB, and was the son of the late Scovil and Flossie (Payne) Ritchie. He was predeceased by his brother-in-law, Huntley Parker.

He is survived by his children, Corey (Heather), Chris (Susie), Gina (Brent), and his cherished grandchildren, Michael, Andrew, Hillary, Katelyn, Jessica, Brynn, and Lowyn. Ralph is also survived by his siblings, Kaye (Anne), Gary (Betty Ann), Derrall (Duska), and Donnie (Doreen).

Ralph lived in Greenfield NB, for the first 53 years of his life. He began his professional journey as an Autobody Technician and Painter after graduating from trade school in 1972. He garnered invaluable experience working at Clark Chev Olds, Patterson Equipment, and as an Insurance Appraiser before establishing his own business, Ralph's Autobody and Collision, in 1981. After 19 successful years, Ralph transitioned to instructing the Auto Body Trade Program at NBCC in Woodstock and Fredericton.

His path led him west to Slave Lake, Alberta, where he dedicated 19 years to his craft, restoring vehicles and tractors. Ralph returned home to New Brunswick in the summer of 2023 to spend invaluable time with his family, creating lasting memories to be treasured forever.
Ralph was a diligent and resilient worker who faced challenges head-on—an example his children will forever emulate. He found joy in life's simple pleasures: restoring Massey Ferguson tractors, sharing morning coffee and runs with his beloved dog Abby, walks in the woods, or crafting the perfect grilled steak.

The family would like to thank Dr. Joy at the Cross Cancer Institute in Edmonton, Alberta and Dr. Gharavi and the wonderful Oncology staff at the Upper River Valley Hospital for their devoted care during this difficult time. The support of the Extra Mural nurses allowed him more time at home, so thank you. The kindness and care he received during this difficult time allowed him to fight a hard battle until the end.

A private celebration will be held to honor Ralph's memory. Please keep his spirit alive by enjoying a campfire with loved ones, sharing stories, and raising a glass in Ralph's honor. For those who wish, donations made to the River Valley Cancer Support Group would be appreciated by Ralph’s family.
