Frederick R. Wortman
1940-2024
Fred grew up in Maplehurst on the family farm and never shied away from hard work. At a very early age Fred took a heavy responsibility of looking after his family and their farm after the death of his father. His passions led him to his livelihood in carpentry in which he was known far and wide as the man to ask for building techniques, skills and for the precision of his craft. Whenever Fred was asked to take on a new project by friends, family, or neighbors he was always eager to respond Yes, he never turned anyone away. He will be greatly missed for his genuine sense of humor, unmatched storytelling, and priceless advice to anyone that was willing to listen and benefit from it.
Fred is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Phyllis; 4 sons, Vernon Wortman (Audrey), Vincent Wortman, Vaughn Wortman (Lisa) and Duane Wortman (Sherry); 9 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; 3 siblings, Sheila Adams (Richard), Rosber Wortman (Brenda) and Erma Michaud (Phillip) as well as several nieces, nephews and extended family.
