Robert A. Churchill
1944-2025
Robert Arthur Churchill of Port Philip, Nova Scotia, passed away on
Friday, January 3, 2025, at the Veterans Health Unit, Dr. Everett
Chalmers Hospital, Fredericton.
Robert was born on August 29, 1944, in Yarmouth, NS and was the son of the late Ritchie Lloyd and Kathryn Louise (Smith) Churchill. He was also predeceased by his beloved wife, Sylvia Joy (Walsh) Churchill; 1 brother, Scott and 1 sister, Beverly.
Robert served in the Canadian Armed Forces for 22 years and later worked at the Canadian Federal Correctional Institution in Springhill, Nova Scotia for almost 30 years.
Robert was married to Joy for 43 years, she passed away in 2006. Bob and Joy had 3 children, Tracey Winstone, Trevor Churchill and Cerina Churchill; 6 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren. He is also survived by brothers, Ritchie Churchill (Paulette), Bruce Churchill (Dianne) and Russell Churchill (Darlene); sisters, Florence Stackhouse (Wayne), Joyce Kelly and Lorna Keating. He is also survived by his beloved friend for the past 11 years, Karen Taylor as well as several nieces, nephews and extended family.
Respecting Robert’s wishes a Celebration of Life will be held at a later date, with the interment in the Collingwood-Wyvern Cemetery, Pugwash Nova Scotia at that time. For those who wish donations made to the Veterans Health Unit, Fredericton or the Alzheimer’s Society would be appreciated. L.R. Giberson Funeral Directors are entrusted with the arrangements.
