Born October 22, 1942, in Florenceville, New Brunswick, Canada, "French Fry Capital of the World", to Rose and Arnold Estey, the oldest of five siblings.

Duane graduated from Aroostook Central Institute in Mars Hill, Maine. Shortly after high school he moved to Connecticut, where he lived in Shelton and then Seymour. He worked for Armstrong Rubber in West Haven, then Sikorsky Aircraft in Shelton for about 25 years, and lastly at Shelton High School as a groundskeeper. He served two years in the Army in Kansas.

He was known for his very positive attitude, extreme outgoingness, genuine and consistent friendliness, and sayings such as "stay focused" and "keep training". An avid runner, he completed about twelve marathons. Duane had a close walk with the Lord and loved to tell people the good news about Jesus and hand out cards that talked about this. He was a beloved member of Beacon Hill Church, in Monroe, since it was started in the early 1970's. He attended many high school sporting events locally and around the state where he encouraged so many students. He was also the Mascot for the Shelton High School football team. It was amazing to his close friends in recent years how many people recognized him from these events.

Duane leaves behind his loving family, including his sister Helen, brother Lloyd, nieces Janna (Larsen), Kendra (McAdam), Lindsay (Crosft) and nephews Jason, Jeremy, and Sean, and many friends in Connecticut and elsewhere. He was predeceased by his brothers Graydon and Dean.

His friends and family would like to thank the staff at Griffin Hospital, Griffin Faculty Physicians and Lord Chamberlain for their kind care.

Funeral services will be held from True North Baptist Church, 167 Burnham Rd. Florenceville-Bristol, NB on Monday, July 6th, 2026 at 1:00 pm with Pastor Michael Palmer officiating. Interment will be in the East Florenceville Baptist Cemetery.
