It is with heavy hearts that the family of Michael John McHatten of Connell, announce his passing which occurred on July 24, 2026, at the Upper River Valley Hospital, Waterville. Michael was born July 24, 1968, the youngest of his siblings. Michael fought a short courageous battle with cancer, leaving earth too soon. He will never be forgotten by his loved ones and whomever he crossed paths with.

Michael was a devoted husband to his wife Kathy, a dad to Yolanda (Lisha), Jonathan, Jeremy and Melissa (Corey). A loving “PaPa Mike” to Arianna, Natalie, Savannah, Spencer, Addison, Nicole, Miller, Daimen, Haysen and Averie; a brother to Norman, Gail, Jimmy, Wally and Herbie along with his aunts, uncles and many cousins.

Michael was predeceased by his parents, Donald and Ina (Wright) McHatten, brother Maurice and stepdaughter in law, Rachelle.

Michael cherished his fur babies, Axle & Chappie wherever Michael was his dogs were never to far away. Michael was a dog whisperer. Michael was a hard-working man at work and at home. Michael started welding at the age of 18 and in recent years working at BWS in Centreville where his work family will miss his positive attitude. At home he would outside tinkering away or working in the garden. Michael enjoyed using his welding skills making many project that he was proud to show off. Michael was an avid hockey fan, playing pick-up hockey, watching local hockey games whenever he got the chance. In the winter you’d find him in front of the TV cheering on the Buffalo Sabres.

The family would like to thank Dr. Christopher Stone for his time, perseverance over Michael’s care. Also, the doctors and staff from the oncology teams in Perth Andover, Saint John, Fredericton and Waterville.

Respecting Michael’s wishes there will be no formal services. Memorial donations made to DunRoamin Stray and Rescue would be appreciated.
